Howard “Duke” Krutsinger, age 84, of Flora, IL passed away at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 15, 2013 at the Clay County Hospital in Flora.

Howard was born August 3, 1928 in Louisville, IL to Art and Stella Maude (Owens) Krutsinger. He married Anna May Hagen on January 7, 1950 in Louisville. She preceded him in death on August 25, 2011.

Being the provider for the family, Howard worked at the shoe factory and also at Valley Steel for over 25 years. He later drove a semi-truck. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was stationed in Japan. In his spare time Howard enjoyed coon hunting, soft ball, and was an avid Cubs fan.

He is survived by his children: Leonard Krutsinger and wife Joni of Findlay, OH, Joyce Locke of Flora, the late Ed Krutsinger and wife Daisy of Flora, Delores Colclasure and husband Jack of Flora, Ruby Barnes and husband Steve of Highland, Charles Krutsinger and wife Terri of Flora, Lois McCrory and husband Ray of Flora, Bob Krutsinger and wife Donna of Xenia, Sara Wyatt and husband Gene of Clay City, Bonnie Allen and husband Paul of Xenia, Tom Krutsinger and wife Janette of Flora, Janet Thompson of Flora, Joe Krutsinger and wife Chris of Flora; 1 brother: Gene Krutsinger and wife Shirley of Flora; 2 sister-in-laws: Eileen Krutsinger and Brenda Krutsinger both of Flora; along with 38 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son (Ed Krutsinger), 3 son-in-laws (Larry Helms, Ross Locke, John Cartright), grandson (Barry Wyatt), a great-grandson (Brandon), 4 brothers (Glen, Leo, Arnold and Wayne Krutsinger), and 1 sister (Mildred Tull).

The funeral service for Howard Krutsinger will be held at 1 PM on Monday, March 18, 2013 at the Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora, with military honors. Visitation will be from 12 PM (noon) until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home. The family has suggested that memorial donations be made to the Gary W. Bright Memorial Fund.
