Pearl Idell Young, age 101, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Friday morning, October 9, 2020, at Flora Gardens Care Center.
She was born July 20, 1919, in Winterrowd, Jasper County, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Eva (Welch) Benefield. She married Harry F. Young on November 16, 1938, in Perryville, Missouri. Harry preceded her in death on November 22, 2003, after 65 years of marriage.
Pearl had worked in local retail stores, practiced as a beautician, and was a nursing home dietician. She was a member of New Zion General Baptist Church where she had been active in the Ladies Quilting Group.
She is survived by a daughter: Patsy (Virgil) Miller of Scottville; a son: Glenn Young (Toni Waddell) of Flora; 11 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and 2 daughters-in-law: Connie Young and Leslie Young.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 sons: Warren Lyle Young and Larry Young; a daughter-in-law: Cindi Young; a great-granddaughter; 4 brothers: Lowell, Lowden, Lyle, and Charles Robert Benefield; and 2 sisters: Bernice Pruitt and Alice Sipus.
A graveside ceremony for Pearl Young will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at Ingraham Cemetery, where interment will follow. A visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 12 noon Tuesday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Glenn, Patsy and families, I'm so sorry for the loss of aunt Pearl. She was a sweet lady. She will be missed. Hugs and prayers for all.
Glenn, we were so sorry to hear of the passing of your mom. Though it has been several years since we have been home to Flora, Pat and I remember the quiet sweet spirit of Pearl. Our prayers for you, Kirby and Kelly.
Glen and family, thoughts and prayers for comfort be with you all. Pearl was a beautiful person who loved her Lord and will now be rejoicing with many loved ones and praising that God.
My sympathy to your family. I remember what a sweet lady your mother and grandmother was. When I did volunteer work at Heritage Woods, she always had such a sweet disposition, it was a pleasure to see and talk with her.

I had the pleasure of being in the same class with your Mother in beauty school all those years ago. She was a sweet, sweet lady that tried her best to keep us young kids in line...She will be missed but how lucky that she got to live such a long productive life.

So sorry for your loss. Ms pearl was such a kind, sweet and funny lady. I really enjoyed visiting with a fellow coffee lover and getting to know her while I worked at heritage woods.
We are so sorry to hear of Pearl's passing. She was such an inspiration at the Sunday Evening Bible Study at Heritage Woods. She always attended and knew the scriptures, it was a joy to have Pearl there.
