Lisa Jeanette Persinger, age 59, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Monday afternoon, October 12, 2020, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
She was born January 16, 1961, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of William Robert and Dorothy “Dot” Ruth (Massey) Humphrey. She was united in marriage to Stephen Ray Persinger on October 27, 1978, at the First United Methodist Church in Flora and together they have shared almost 42 wedding anniversaries.
Lisa earned her Associate’s Degree in nursing from Olney Central College and went on to work as a registered nurse at Clay County Medical Clinic and Flora Care Center. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Flora, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, and Beta Sigma Phi. Lisa enjoyed photography, cross-stitch, reading, and sitting outside with her dog, Charlotte.
She is survived by her husband: Steve Persinger of Flora; a daughter: Amanda “Mandi” (Brian) Robinson of Palm Harbor, FL; siblings: Julie (Scott) Welge and nieces Morgan and Cassidy Welge of Chapel Hill, NC, and William “Bill” (Tamara) Humphrey of Mt. Carmel; 2 brothers-in-law: Michael Persinger of Flora and Allen Persinger of Kawasaki, Japan; and close companion her dog, Charlotte.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A private family ceremony will be held with interment at Elmwood Cemetery. A public Celebration of Life ceremony for friends and family will be held at a later date and will be announced. Arrangements are in the care of Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. I am so very sorry. Lisa was one of my favorite cousins...an incredibly sweet and kind soul. She will always be remembered for her joyful spirit and loving nature. Its comforting to know that she is now fully restored and running through the streets of heaven. Steve and family...you are all in my prayers.

Steve, you took outstanding care of Lisa and she loved you dearly. I remember her telling me she looked forward to her new strong body in Heaven. I picture her now, not resting, but running! However, I know she leaves a large hole in your life. Prayers for peace and comfort for all the family.
Will miss Lisa and her sweet independent manner, never played you for sympathy, did not want it, known her since they moved here, my Bill loved to tease her, she was always pleasant, even after she became afflicted with ms, never wanted sympathy and was always pleasant, showing me pictures of her daughter, and bragging on her husband, actually, she was a very uplifting person, will miss her.

It is difficult to find words to express how sorry we are to hear of Lisa’s passing. I didn’t talk to her as often in the recent past due to my busy schedule but I always enjoyed our visits either on the phone or when we would go for lunch or the occasional trip out of town for some shopping. She was always so positive and upbeat though I know she had her days of much frustration. Those difficult days are now finished and she is completely healed and I know her smile is radiating in meeting her Savior Jesus of whom she so often spoke. She was quite a witness of His strength and she always made sure to give Him the glory for even what she considered to be small accomplishments. She is safely home now but she will be dearly missed here. Steve and family, you are all in our prayers.

Steve, Mandi and family, I was always happy to see Lisa even though it was not often. Her attitude always amazed me, her physical challenges certainly didn't stop her from doing anything that needed to be done or anything she wanted to do. The fact that you were always there for her Steve is a testament to true and undying love. You all will be kept in my thoughts and prayers.
From the lovely photo tribute we learned these things about our son's mother-in-law: Lisa loved turtlenecks, holiday sweaters, dangly earrings, dogs and puppies, Christmas, beaches, suntanning, summer trips, colorful clothes, and curly hair! From all the other tributes we learned far more about this lady who was loved by so many for so long. Our friendship was brief. It's our disappointment that we didn't know her longer.
Dad just mentioned this and I have been traveling so a belated condolence. Sorry for your loss. Thinking of you and your family.
