Graveside Ceremony: 1 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2020, at Red Brush Cemetery

Dorothy Barnfield Daugherty, age 88, of Flora, Illinois, and formerly of Louisville, passed away early Friday morning, December 4, 2020, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
She was born September 28, 1932, in Rinard, Illinois, the daughter of Berlie Hawkins and Edna L. (Spriggs) Barnfield. She was united in marriage to Jack Glen Daugherty on August 22, 1950, in Noble, Illinois, and together they shared almost 67 wedding anniversaries until his death July 13, 2017.
Dorothy enjoyed time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Red Brush Christian Church.
She is survived by a son: Mick (Linda) Daugherty of Dahlgren; a daughter: Peggy (Larry) Rinehart of Flora; grandchildren: Angie (Kent) Darnell of McLeansboro, Joe (Julie) Rinehart of Mt. Vernon, Eric (Jess) Daugherty of Bluford, and Jacque (Zac) Bridgeman of O’Fallon; great-grandchildren: Kaleb and Kolby Darnell, Bayley, Jackson, Maxwell, and Asher Rinehart, Wyatt and Emma Daugherty, and Reagan, Morgan, and Claire Bridgeman; special adopted grandchildren: Ashley Camden and Sarah Hopfinger; siblings: Bernita Porter of Louisville and Bill Barnfield of Geff; sister-in-law: Kathleen Green of Louisville; and many special nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers: John, Howard, Harry, and Freddy Barnfield; sisters: Vera Case, Thelma Case, and Junie Harrell; and half-brothers and sisters: Paul, Curtis, Burl, Lillian Bayes, and Ruth Carey.
A graveside ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2020, at Red Brush Cemetery. Those attending are asked to arrive directly at the cemetery. In accordance with an Illinois mandate, masks will be required, and social distancing guidelines will be followed. Arrangements are in the care of Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Memorial donations are suggested to Clay County Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted through the funeral home. I have so many memories of Aunt Dorothy. She was my babysitter when I was little and I admired and loved her when I became an adult. I will always cherish the relationship she had with my Memom, her sister. They were so fun to be around. I loved her and her whole family.
One of my favorite Aunts, going to miss her so many wonderful memories. Love you Aunt D! ❤️❤️❤️

So sorry to hear of Dorothy’s passing. She and Jack were always very dear to my heart. They were very independent and strong willed and a joy to know. Prayers for her family who are also great people.
