Interment: Elmwood Cemetery
Visitation: Saturday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home
Davetta Ann Dunigan, age 81, of Clay City, Illinois, passed away Monday, March 8, 2021, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
She was born October 25, 1939, in Knoble, Arkansas, the daughter of David Raley and Lucy (Wilder) Crown. She was united in marriage to Loren Dunigan on November 2, 1957, at the Clay City United Methodist Church and together they have shared 63 wedding anniversaries.
Davey had worked at the Flora Medical Clinic before going on to work at the First National Bank, retiring as Vice President after 25 years. She was a faithful member of the Clay City United Methodist Church where she served as a lay speaker, Sunday School teacher, and assisted with youth group and bible school. She and Loren enjoyed traveling with friends, and she truly loved tending to her flowers, canning a variety of delicious vegetables from her garden, and the music and movies of Elvis Presley. Davey was a caregiver at heart and looked for ways to touch her family and others by lifting them up and brightening their day with a thoughtful handwritten note or card, a phone call, or even with a fresh baked pie.
She is survived by her husband: Loren Dunigan of Clay City; mother: Lucy Helm of Olney; a daughter: Cathy (Bill) Croy of Clay City; 3 grandchildren: Adam (Lindsey) Croy, Jill (Nate) Vock, and Vanessa (Dustin) Pastrovich; 7 great-grandchildren: Reiston, Griffin, Kennedy, Sophia, Liam, Phoebe, and Benjamin; brother: Ralph (Adele) Crown of St. Louis; sister: Jennifer Pinnick of Cincinnati; and nephew: Kevin (Tasha) Crown and their children: Tyson and Madison Crown.
She was preceded in death by her father David; and a brother: Lanny Crown.
A funeral ceremony will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 2021, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Clay County Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry and these will be accepted through the funeral home.
