Funeral Ceremony: 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at First Southern Baptist Church in Flora
Visitation: 2 until 5 p.m. Tuesday at the church
Lowell Robert “Bob” Mitchell, age 63, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Friday afternoon, June 25, 2021, at his home.
He was born February 5, 1958, in Fairfield, the son of Casselman Robert and Hazel Ruth (Duke) Mitchell. On February 15, 2006, Bob was united in marriage to Rita, and this year they celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary.
Bob was a 1976 graduate of Fairfield Community High School. He was dedicated to his work at Champion Laboratories of Albion for 40 years. From an early age, Bob said he pledged his avid support to the Chicago Cubs, and was finally rewarded with a World Series win in 2016 to help secure his bragging rights amid his family of wholehearted St. Louis Cardinals fans. He loved music and concerts, was an all-around sports enthusiast, and truly just loved spending time with his family. Bob was a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Flora, and just days ago asked to re-confirm his faith and acceptance of Christ in a baptism ceremony at home.
Bob is survived by his wife: Rita Mitchell of Flora; his parents: Bob and Hazel Mitchell of Fairfield; children: Alyssa Case (Derek) of Evansville, Indiana, Lynn (Chris) Rhodes of Shelbyville, JR (Julie) Lewis and Julie (Chris) Kamp, both of Flora; 14 grandchildren: Kaiser and Kollin Case, Blake Waters, Taylor Rhodes, Braedi Rhodes, Austin Lewis, Haley Lewis, Nick Trotter, Sydnee Lewis, Torrey Herdes, Dawson Boose, Rayce Giddens, Blade Collins, and Callena Kamp; and 6 great-grandchildren, as well as one new baby on the way. He is also survived by 2 sisters: Diana (Noel Jr.) Vaughan and Susan (Greg) Tuggle, both of Fairfield; and a brother: Bryan (Melissa) Mitchell of Louisville.
A funeral ceremony celebrating the life of Bob Mitchell will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at First Southern Baptist Church in Flora with Dr. Joel Hackney officiating. Visitation will be from 2 until 5 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are in the care of Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Memorials are suggested to either Clay County Hospice or the ALS Association St. Louis Regional Chapter, and the funeral home will assist you in making these donations.
