Margaret Irene Gillespie, age 96, of Flora, IL died at 9:28 AM on Friday, February 08, 2013 at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.

She was born January 26, 1917 in Olney, IL to Thomas E. and Eva Mae (Kent) Gillespie. Margaret worked at Westinghouse in Chicago prior to serving as a health care provider for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Flora and the Clay County Hospital Auxiliary. She will be remembered for her uplifting smile and personality.

She is survived by her daughter: Norma Jean Dusten of Flora, special friends, Tom and Laura Hale of Louisville and Lucille Cook of Flora, along with several grandchildren and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister (Ida Mae Hoard), and a brother (Harvey F. Gillespie).

A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney, IL. There is no visitation. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Flora. The Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora is in charge of arrangements.
