Visitation: Sunday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the church
Entombment: Louisville Hillside Mausoleum at Orchard Hill Cemetery
Ruth Ann Leib, age 75, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Tuesday night, September 14, 2021, in Lafayette, Indiana.
She was born October 9, 1945, in Louisville, the daughter of Carl Eben and Beulah Geneva (Erwin) Stanley. She was united in marriage to Harold Bernard Leib on October 24, 1965, at the Flora Nazarene Church and together they have shared 55 wedding anniversaries.
Ruth Ann’s life centered around her genuine love of Jesus and family. She treasured her life as a homemaker and was grateful for all of the time she spent with her grandchildren and the opportunity to look after them throughout their youth. She faithfully attended their sporting events and activities as a most spirited supporter. She and Harold were longtime members of the Flora Church of the Nazarene where she taught Children’s Sunday School for more than 30 years, and participated in Women’s Bible Study and the choir. Her love of Southern Gospel music began early in life when singing with her sister. She and Harold sang duets during their early years of marriage, and they later became “The Leib Family” as their children joined their harmonies during countless events and engagements. Ruth Ann had worked at Sparton Manufacturing, as a teachers aid at Clay City and Louisville, and later retired from working at N.A.L. She’ll be especially remembered for her wealth of candies and chocolates which were always close by for sharing wherever she went, and for her warm and welcoming smiles and kindhearted hugs.
She is survived by her husband: Harold Leib of Flora; children: Greg (Tammy) Leib of Swansea, Phil (Cindy) Leib of Flora, Leah (Michael) Stanford of Flora, Jason (Leslie) Leib of Flora, and Curtis (Holly) Leib of Flora; grandchildren: Jackson Leib, Addison Leib, Patton Leib, Hannah (Logan) Steedly, Helen (Brent) Regier, Ethan Leib, Ian Leib, Owen (Sydney) Leib, Brett (Rebecca) Stanford, Alyssa Stanford, Faith (Joe) Harned, Isaac Stanford, Janna (Vinnie) Harned, Olivia (Levi) Williams, Katrina Leib, Jadon Leib, Jerrica Leib, Jaelyn (Jefrey) Gocey, and Jaren Leib; great-grandchildren: Lucy Steedly, Edison Regier, Sadie Stanford, Magnolia Stanford, and Silas Harned; a sister: Joyce Childers of Denver; and 3 sisters-in-law: Mona Stanley, Lovell Vallette, and Pauletta Hough.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother: Lloyd Stanley; and a brother-in-law: Charles Childers.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held 10 a.m. Monday September 20, 2021, at Flora Church of the Nazarene with Doug Romine officiating. Entombment will follow in Louisville Hillside Mausoleum at Orchard Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are in the care of Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Memorial donations are suggested to Flora Church of the Nazarene youth program and will be accepted through the funeral home. I’m sorry to hear of Ruth’s passing. I’m sure she is in a much better place even though she will be greatly missed. We first knew your family back in the 70’s on Scudamore street. You were renting the house next to our trailer. What a Family of Athletes and Musicians. We have shared a lot of Great Memories since then. COVID-19 has changed our World. You all are in our Prayers. Remember the Good Times. HP
To Greg and family.. So sorry for your loss. Your Mom was fun to be around and she always had a smile on her face. Glad I got to know her. Lovely lady.
While Rod has memories of Ruth Ann from days at NAL, my fondest are from when we were across- the- alley neighbors. Ruth and Harold made their way over to see our daughter for the first time once we were home from the hospital. Ruth Ann mentioned several times how special it was that Avril looked SO much like Rod....it finally dawned on me that she thought wede gone thru the adoption process!! I didnt want her to feel badly, so joked that when a person is as tall and " a horse" like I am, you really cant tell when theyre expecting! She looked so relieved and we laughed and laughed. She continues to be a fun, funny, beautiful, helpful and gracious lady....shes just being that in her brand new home. Our prayers are for peace for each of you...we love you all.💝
My deepest condolences to the whole family. I first met your mother when she was my teaching assistant at North Clay Elementary many years ago. She always gave the children (and teachers) her warm, caring attention. She was always smiling and happy, and that was the way she remained each time I saw her through the years. I know this is such a huge loss for your family, but knowing that she is now in Heaven gives you peace, I’m sure.
Some glad morning when this life is over, I'll fly away, to a home on God's celestial shore, I'll fly away! A soul is eternal and Mrs. Leib knew that. Not afraid to let her soul fly and be with Jesus. What an example for all mankind. I am sorry for the loss of this wonderful soul to our family in this present life, but Mrs. Leib, labors and trials are o'er, and she is safe on that beautiful shore. Just to near the dear Lord, she adore. "O That Will Be Glory"
Prayers for your well remembered family.
So very sorry about your loss
We wish to extend our condolences to the family of Ruth Ann Leib. She and her family were good neighbors and friends. May the God of All Peace be with you all in your time of sorrows. Virgil and Rosalyn Uphold
