Interment: Odd Fellows Cemetery, Xenia
Deloris M. Rice, age 81, of Xenia, Illinois passed away Thursday night, September 23, 2021, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon.
She was born May 23, 1940, in Carmi, the daughter of James Gilbert “Gib” and Fern L. (Hillyard) Chilton. She was united in marriage to Richard L. Rice on September 7, 1994, and together they have shared 27 wedding anniversaries.
Deloris worked for UPS in Olney for 26 years. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan and enjoyed watching all the NASCAR Races.
She is survived by her husband: Richard Rice of Xenia; a son: Steve Satterfield of Florida; stepson: Kent (Melody) Rice of Xenia; stepdaughter: Marcie (Gary) Cook of Rinard; grandchildren: Ryan Satterfield, Brock Satterfield, Zach (Heather) Rice, Aaron Rice, and Cody Cook; 2 great-grandchildren: Quinn and Lainey; 2 sisters: Pat Rodgers of Carmi and Barbara Brown of Palestine, Texas; 2 brothers: Jim (Jan) Chilton of Villa Grove and Harrell Chilton of Carmi; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sons: Dennis Satterfield and John Satterfield; a sister: Mary Etta (Bill) Gray; and a brother-in-law: Norwood Rodgers.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday September 29, 2021, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Xenia. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to any charity of the donor’s choice and will be accepted through the funeral home. Dody, Dody, Gone so suddenly. We will miss you so much. Our texting, almost everyday. Our lunches, just the 4 of us. We talked about everything. Compared our Grandkids pictures. We were just good friends. Sympathy to the family. Rest in peace, our Dody!

Doddie my heart hurts so much. We have been friends since mid 1970's. So many memories going through my mind today. We sure had some fun times and many adventures together. Going to your family gatherings in Carmi and our many road trips. I am so thankful that I introduced you to Richard. You two were a fantastic couple. Will always think of you as another sister. i seen doaty and dick at lots of auctions and dukes cafe she was a strait shooter she let you know what she thought i liked the lady and dick to she took good care of him and that what counts.
