Denise Nicole Schnell, age 46, of Noble, Illinois, passed away Friday afternoon, October 1, 2021, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
She was born July 22, 1975, in Olney, the daughter of Karla (Schnell) Ash.
Affectionately called “Niece” by those who loved her, she revealed her beautiful spirit with family and friends through all the things she enjoyed doing with them. She liked to go fishing, ride on the side-by-side, and play board games and card games like “Phase 10.” Denise put her whole heart into singing Karaoke, enjoyed bowling, and dining out at her favorite restaurants. She shared an enormous bond and countless special memories with her daughter, and especially loved letting Piper simply put her hair into a braid. Denise worked for over 15 years at N.A.L. and was a member of the Noble Seventh-day Adventist Church.
She is survived by her daughter: Piper Jones; her mother: Karla Ash; 3 sisters: Trish (Rickey) McGrew, Amanda (Chris) Byam, and Jennifer Borton (fiancé Eric Jones); grandparents: Richard and Bonita Schnell; a stepsister: Lindsay (Richard) Wells; and other cherished family including nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father: Billy Ash.
A funeral ceremony for Denise will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, south of Noble. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to a fund for Piper’s education, and will be accepted through the funeral home. I was lucky enough to be in the class of 1993 Noble HS graduating class with Denise. I have many fond memories with Denise and her great laugh. Piper was her greatest treasure in this world. God bless you Piper and I'm happy to say I grew up with your mother. She will always be your angel.

My heart goes out to Piper and her family! I had the pleasure of working with Denise at NAL...she was such a beautiful person inside and out! She was always smiling and laughing....she will be missed! RIP my friend!

Such a caring and delightful person gone way, way too soon. You will be acutely missed by so many. Denise, I've loved your family from decades before you were born. Family love will go to any extreme to support Piper. They are the best, and you were a very special part of them. No one will ever stop grieving or "doing what needs to be done".
