Charles David Dulaney aka LunchMeat (4.12.1950 - 12.17.2021), loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many succumbed to COVID as well as Lewy Body on Friday, December 17, 2021. He was officially diagnosed in 2017 with Lewy Body Disease and contracted COVID on December 7, 2021, and passed away peacefully in Kimble, MN.
Dave was born April 12, 1950, at Clay County Hospital in Flora, Illinois. His family lived in Flora and attended school from kindergarten through high school. After college, Dave moved to Flora and settled in to raise his family.
Dave earned his bachelor’s in education at Millikin University in Decatur. Dave was employed by the Flora, Illinois, school district as a 4th and 5th grade teacher for 35 years as well as coached Cross Country, Track and basketball.
Dave was loved by many and liked by all. He touched countless lives over the years be it through teaching grade school at Lincoln School within the Flora School district. Dave also coached Cross Country in the mid 80’s and coached track and field in the mid 90’s.
Dave had a warm smile and a kind heart and would be there to give sound advice when ever needed. Dave was a one-of-a-kind individual. He would talk to you about any subject of life but mostly loved talking about running, basketball and of course St. Louis Cardinals baseball.
Even after he retired from teaching, Dave could never sit still very long when he was healthy. During the spring and summer months, Dave would mow yards every day to keep busy. He would travel to see his grandkids in Wisconsin, Tennessee, and Virginia when he wasn’t mowing.
LunchMeat will be missed by many.
He is survived by his; 2 sons, Brian Dulaney and his wife Crystal of La Crosse, WI; and Kyle Dulaney and his wife Jennifer of San Diego, CA; a daughter, Natasha Norton and her husband Chris of Maryville, TN; 8 grandchildren; a sister, Carole Peterson & husband Mick of Pontiac, IL; and a brother, Richard Dulaney & wife Sylvia of Clemmons, NC.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Dulaney and Cleta (Koch) Pass.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to a scholarship fund in memory of Dave Dulaney and will be accepted through the funeral home. I met Dave in 1967 when he was a Flora High School senior, and I was a first- year teacher. I like to think that he became a lifelong friend after that, and we shared many conversatons over the years. Dave was always ready with a story about the Cardinals. I will miss seeing him jog by or riding his mower in the summertime. Rest in peace my friend.

Mr. D you were a one of a kind guy, You were my teacher and then as I grew up you became my friend. When I worked at Casey's I always looked forward to our morning chats. You done well on this earth you helped and taught many children. Rest in piece my friend.

I was saddened to hear of Dave's passing. My first thought was for the kids now having lost both parents. My second thought was picturing, what years ago, was a regular sight in town; Dave and Jerry Jennings out running. Running buddies together again but now on the streets of gold. My condolences to the family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I will always remember Dave as just a friendly guy when we grew up in Flora in the '60s. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

I remember when he and your mom were dating. He would run from Flora to Louisville, then sit outside at the picnic table, talking and telling stories. Sweet memories. May God’s peace be with you all.
My thoughts and prayers are with Dave's family. We were classmates all through elementary, junior high and high school and I recall how nice he was. Years later, he would always wave whenever I passed him, either running or pulling his mower. Rest in peace, Dave.

To one of the kindness man that ALWAYS had Flora his proud home and ALWAYS was a sports fanatic for the Wolves. 3 awesome kids and this community does and will always remember him running 🏃♀️. R.I.P Dave ❤

Another well-known teacher in Flora has passed. I remembered him from Lincoln School, McDonald's, and his lawn mowing/landscaping jobs. He will be greatly missed.

Sympathy goes out to Dave’s Family. Dave was a friend since I ran Cross County for St. Anthony H.S in the Fall of ‘81 and then as a 6th grade basketball coach and he refereed…always made me smile!!!

Rich, Carole, and families, I was so saddened to hear of Dave's illness and death. So many memories - cross country and track meets, basketball games, dances, movies, and dates. He was such a big part of my high school years. Never forgotten.
