Celebration of Life: 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Assembly of God Church in Flora
Visitation: 2-3 p.m. on Saturday at the church with military funeral honors presented at 2 p.m.
Pastor Lee Woods, age 91, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Sunday night, April 24, 2022, at his home.
He was born April 13, 1931, in Newton, the son of Jesse Lee and Gladys (Stoops) Woods. He was united in marriage to Frances I. Laswell on November 19, 1954, in Las Vegas, Nevada and together they have shared 67 wedding anniversaries.
Lee served in the Navy for a year before transferring to the Air Force where he worked as a jet aircraft mechanic. He served as Pastor at the Flora Assembly of God Church for 36 years but had been involved with the church since 1964. God always came first with Lee, and he loved spreading the word. He loved people and especially enjoyed time spent with his family, friends, and church family. Lee always said, “if you want JOY in your life, put JESUS first, then OTHERS, and lastly YOURSELF.” He was a great example of a Godly man, and he will be remembered as a loving Pastor, husband, and father. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and traveling, especially out West.
He is survived by his wife: Frances Woods of Flora; son: David Woods of Flora; daughter: Paula Fatheree of Flora; grandchildren: Zachary (Vanessa) Fatheree of Xenia and Isaiah Fatheree of Flora; great-grandchildren: Maddie, Landen, Rayna, Avrie, Lilly, and Zaylee; great-great-grandchild: Willow; grand-dog: Marley; and a brother: Paul Woods of Charleston.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Bob Woods; and a sister: Bea Fields-Clark.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Assembly of God Church in Flora. Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. at the church with military funeral honors presented at 2 p.m. Arrangements are by Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. What do you say? Except what fun we know you are having walking the streets of gold. A wonderful Man of God, a teacher, a preacher always fulfilling his call upon his life sharing Jesus Christ and making sure you weren't planning for hell to be your eternal home. A man with wisdom and knowledge and knowing the bible like the back of his hand who could teach on Revelations with a new understanding each time. And how could we forget his favorite...Galations 5: 22-23 "The Fruit of the Spirit". Pastor, you were more than just our Pastor, you were our father, our grandfather, our family. I am so sorry to hear about Rev. Woods. I have always enjoyed his Sunday Morning radio ministry. My sincere sympathy to the family, with love and prayers.
He might be gone but he will never be forgotten. He was a very nice Pastor as well as a nice person. I am so sorry for your loss but he is rejoicing right now with the Angels in heaven.

Pastor Lee Woods planned a seed in my life many years ago, that eventually encouraged me to turn my life around! I preached for him this April. Great service. He was a true Christian Warrior. Love you Cousin Jack Stoops

So sorry for your earthly loss but, Heaven has gained a gem! Paula, I have heard you the past couple of weeks on Sunday morning and know how proud he must be of you. He was truly a God serving man and brought his word to many. Prayers of comfort and peace.

Pastor Lee was not only a great man of God, a great Pastor,a man of wisdom a great teacher and leader and a great personal family friend,he always had a smile on his face and was so funny to be around he was quite a joy...I personally will miss all his words through Him from God that he would Pray with my family and I everytime he would see us,I always appreciated and loved him dearly..He will be greatly missed by not only Mark and I, the Carpenter family but so many others. One of the greatest and sweetest Man of God I knew. I attended Flora Assembly of God from 1976 to 1981 and our Pastor was Rick Stratton and Brother Lee Woods was Deacon. Pastor Lee Woods was a great and wonderful influence in my life. Francis, Paula, David and all the family I am so sorry for your loss. God bless you all.

I remember Pastor Lee Woods. I also remember that he would be there whenever he was needed without any hesitation. Pastor Lee Woods was a great impact in my Walk with God. My prayers and condolences to the Woods family.
i worked at amf where lee and his brother serviced the canteen food and sanwich machine's he was the honest man i ever met, also he once had his daughter with him she might have been 10 years old he was a good dad and a christian and i considered him a friend.
I am sorry for your loss Paula, David and Fran. I don't have to tell you what a great man of God Lee was. He was compassionate toward the lost and led a good example for others to follow. I remember growing up when Brother Lee would fill in and preach on Sunday nights. I recall his rolling skating story of how to put God above all things, it stuck with me to this day! My parents Don and Shirley Sullens send their condolences as well.

The first time I met Pastor Lee, I was new to the town of Flora. My husband introduced me. He welcomed me without asking questions. He never seen fault in me. This made my transition to Flora easier. I will miss him. He was a wonderful man and married a wonderful woman.
