Mary H. (Rinehart) Lovellette, age 77, of Athens, Alabama, passed away Thursday morning, August 4, 2022, in Athens.
She was born October 21, 1944, in Louisville, Illinois, the daughter of Carlos Paul and Pauline (Cambron) Rinehart.
Mary had retired from Target Corporation in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Athens. She enjoyed making quilts, exploring genealogy, mushroom hunting, and working puzzles. Mary will be remembered for her dedication to working hard, making the best of living life with abundant laughter, and enjoying all the time she could with her family and friends.
Mary’s surviving family includes her 3 children: Jeff (Lucy) Scammahorn of Carmel, Indiana, Troy (Lisa) Scammahorn of Painesville, Ohio, and Julie (Bryan) Vianco of Athens, Alabama; 7 grandchildren: Derek Scammahorn of Great Barrington, Massachusetts, Austen Scammahorn of Shawboro, North Carolina, Veeda Scammahorn and Vanna Scammahorn of Carmel, Indiana, Kate Vianco of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Jacob Vianco and Emma Vianco of Athens, Alabama; 4 siblings: Carroll (Carole) Rinehart of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, Gene Rinehart of Clay City, Rosalie (Paul) Wildbur of Louisville, Illinois, and Larry (Peggy) Rinehart of Flora, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers: Kenneth, Gary, and Norman Rinehart; a sister: Ila Rinehart; and 2 grandsons: Devin and Casey Scammahorn.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2022, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow at Hoosier Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Clay County Cancer Crusaders and will be accepted through the funeral home. Julie, I am so very deeply sorry for your loss. Your mother was such a sweet, sweet soul. From the first time I met her until the end, she treated me like she had known me forever. I loved chit-chatting with her and cutting up. We had some good laughs (sometimes at you :)). She truly will be missed, but I'm glad she's not in pain anymore. Love you, mean it! Heather
So sorry to hear of Mary passing. She lived next door to me in Flora. We had so many fun times together. My son (Ron) spent time playing and having a good time with Jeff & Troy. So many good memories!!! RIP Mary!
