Lorna Gay Leathers, age 79, of Flora, Illinois, passed away early Monday morning, September 19, 2022, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
She was born September 29, 1942, in Salem, the daughter of LeRoy Edward and Lucille (Lewis) Turner.
Gay was a longtime employee of Sparton Manufacturing in Flora. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, watching movies and game shows, and coloring. She had a love for animals, ice cream, and sweets.
She is survived by her son: Blake Leathers of Flora; granddaughter: Shayna Leathers of Iola; great-grandson: Aiden Leathers of Iola; a sister: Nancy (Ray) Corry of Fairview Heights; and a niece: Lee Ann Corry of Flora.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters: Anita Turner and Judith Turner.
There will be no services. Arrangements are by Frank & Bright Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Flora. Memorial donations are suggested to Fur a Good Paws and will be accepted through the funeral home. To share a memory or condolence, visit: www.frankandbright.com

I remember fun school days with Gay and her sisters. Sorry for the Turner, Leathers, and Corry families at this time of loss.
So sorry to learn of Gay’s passing. We were classmates, Class of ‘60. Always enjoyed talking with her. She will be missed at reunion. My sympathies to her family.

I first met Gay when I was 13 years old, I had joined a Country band that her former husband was a member of. We had several years together playing music at all the local and area clubs. Gay was always happy go lucky was a joy to be around as we all shared many good times trooping all over Southern Illinois. May she rest in peace. Condolences to all her family.
I have fond memories of my friendship with Gay that began while working with her at Sunbeam Plastics years ago.

My heart aches for Blake, Shayna and Aiden. Gay was such a sweet & fun person to be around. I always enjoyed talking to her. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her without a smile and her laugh was so infectious. Praying for the people that loved her that she left behind.

Gay, you will be so missed by many. You were always so kind and would give a helping hand and heart to anyone in need. You were a strong woman, mother and I will never forget your laughter. You , Nita and Judy could light up a room with all of your infectious laughter, I loved it. You will forever hold a place in my heart. I hope you and your sisters and my Mom are all together laughing away and hope we will meet again my friend. I love you. ❤️
Blake & Family, Gay was like a second mother to me back in the day she was alot of fun to be around I will miss her dearly.
