Lorraine L. Hurd, age 82, of Flora, IL died on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the home of her son in Waynesville, MO.

She was born on March 19, 1930 in Bruno, Minnesota to James and Louise (Brandt) Steele. She married Charles W. “C.W.” Hurd on March 17, 1956 in Mineral Wells, Texas. He preceded her in death on May 6, 1993.

Lorraine was a loving and caring person who enjoyed talking with friends and neighbors. When living in Washington State, she had worked as a LPN. Lorraine enjoyed being retired and having opportunities to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Remembering the delicious cinnamon rolls she baked and the homemade salsa that she canned brings back happy memories for her family.

She is survived by 3 sons: Richard W. Steele (Rebekah) of Ottawa, IL, Gary Hurd of Memphis, TN, and Larry Hurd (Ruby) of Waynesville, MO; 2 brothers: James Steele Jr. (Renee) of Seneca, IL, and William Steele of West Chicago, IL; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service for Lorraine L. Hurd will be at 3 PM Thursday, January 17, 2013 at the Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Pastor Allen Kramp officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora. Visitation will be from 1 PM until time of service at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to a fund that the family will donate to several hospice organizations.
