Ellis Jones

      Stanford Ellis Jones, age 93, of Newburgh, Indiana, and formerly of Lawrenceville, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Bell Oaks assisted living facility in Newburgh, Indiana. 

      He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Ruth (Wieldt) Jones and 3 children along with 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  Children are Jan Leek and her husband Bob of Mt. Carmel, Jeff Jones of Lynnville, Indiana, and Mark Jones and his wife Kim of Lawrenceville. 

      Ellis, as he was better known by, was a Korean war veteran and a Tae Kwon Do instructor for Illinois Eastern Community Colleges.  He earned his Black Belt and enjoyed teaching his students.  He was the president and general manager of Lawrenceville Ready Mix from 1973-1992.  He then retired and moved to Bonita Springs, Florida where he and Ruth enjoyed the sunshine, helping his Church, and eating at many different restaurants in the area with many new friends from all over this country and Canada. 

      There will be a celebration of life at a later date.  Friends are asked to contribute to the Christian Church of their choice in lieu of flowers.  Arrangements were by Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora, Illinois.  To share a condolence or memory, visit: www.frankandbright.com
