Betty Jane Lewis Cook, age 81, of Geff, IL passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville, IN.

 

She was born on July 7, 1932 in Clay City.  Her parents were Everett and Hazel Lewis and Alice and Clarence “Steve” Zimmerman.  She had been married to Jack Jines who preceded her in death.  Betty was a homemaker, was of the Baptist faith, and enjoyed working in her yard and garden.  She lived for her grandchildren and always enjoyed spending time with family and friends, having the house full of people visiting and enjoying something to eat.

 

She is survived by her children: Douglas (Deborah) Cook of Norris City, Carol Anderson of Cisne (Cliff Anderson of Fairfield), Cheryl Trout of Norris City, Steve Cook of Geff, Cindy Burt (William Short) of Fairfield; sister: Barbara Padgett of Alabama; special friends: Ted and Joan Cook of Louisville; along with17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, former husband Jack Jines, son-in-law Curtis Burt, brother Donald Lewis, and sister Viola Kelly.

 

The funeral service for Betty Cook will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora.  Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora.  Visitation will be from 11-2 p.m. Saturday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made to the family.
