Funeral: 3 p.m. on Friday, May 26, 2023, at Xenia Christ United Church

Interment: Powers Cemetery, south of Xenia, with the presentation of military funeral honors
Charles McCormack, age 88, of Xenia, Illinois, passed away Monday night, May 22, 2023, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
He was born June 6, 1934, in Xenia, the son of William Edward and Lucinda (Cantrell) McCormack. He was united in marriage to YuVaughn Heckler in 1962, and later married Coline Jane Bess on March 17, 1973.
Charlie served in the U.S. Army. He had worked at Valley Steel and Jennmar and later Flora Wal-Mart working in maintenance and as a door greeter. He owned and operated Charley’s Antiques in Xenia for many years and enjoyed attending auctions. Charlie spent many hours outdoors tending to his vegetable garden and looked forward to harvesting his crop, especially for sharing with family and friends. He enjoyed country music, attending concerts and performances, and playing the board game Aggravation where he found a bit of good-natured competitive spirit in knocking other players off the board. He had been a faithful member of Xenia Christ United Church.
He is survived by 2 daughters: Cindy McCormack-Green (Billy Copelin) of Xenia and Brenda Glover and husband C.L. “Buddy” Glover Jr. of Olney; 3 grandsons: C.L. “Len” Glover III and wife Jamie of O’Fallon, Aaron Glover and wife Nichole of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Charlie Brake and wife Jessica of Clay City; 8 great-grandchildren: Hayden Glover, Jackson Glover, Claire Glover, Caroline Glover, Wyatt Glover, Lucas Glover, Payton Brake, and Katelyn Brake; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 6 sisters: Oakley Copelin, Madge Gragert, Arty Fatheree, Georgia Stengel, Lucille Bailey, and Anna Mae Griffith; and 5 brothers: Archie McCormick, Chet McCormick, Francis McCormick, Arlie “Day” McCormick, and Hubert McCormack.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 26, 2023, at Xenia Christ United Church. Interment will follow in Powers Cemetery, south of Xenia, with the presentation of military funeral honors. A visitation will be held from 1 until 3 p.m. on Friday at the church. Memorial donations are suggested to Xenia Christ United Church or the TGIW outreach at the church and these will be accepted through the funeral home. Cindy, you and your family are in my prayers! Charlie was such a kind man, I have some fond memories as we grew up.

Charlie was a faithful servant of Jesus! We could rest assured he would be in church every Sunday unless his health prevented it He quickly became a good friend of mine and I really enjoyed visiting with him. Well done Charlie, your reward in Heaven has been gained! I WILL see you again some day. Condolences to you Cindy. Your dad was a great man who impacted many lives!

I keep thinking of the glorious happy reunion he is having now with that large McCormick family. He was always there and truly one of the good guys. Continued prayers of comfort.
