Ike was my neighbor, friend, and racing partner. He was a very intelligent man. He could fabricate anything out of metal. He hand made brackets and even made the hood scoop for the 1963 Chevy II that we drag raced at the old US30 Drag Strip in Gary Indiana from 1973 until 1977 when we sold the car. Because of his focus on detail, our car ran best ET 10.63 @ 132mph. Back in the day that was very fast! Most everything I know about working on cars I learned from Ike. So many wonderful memories that will live on as I remember my good friend. I miss talking with you already. RIP my friend.
Miss seeing Dwight at our car shows. Will be missed.
Was such a great friend, so blessed to have gotten to know him, he had such a wonderful smile and was a great jokester, he is so very missed, to his Loved one's My thoughts and prayers are with you
Uncle Dwight may you rest in peace.
I had the honor of getting to care for Dwight. He was such a funny man filled with so many stories of a beautiful life he had. It was a pleasure getting to see him as much as I did and care for him.
I was born on July 25, 1946. Dwight and I were students together at Lincoln Grade School and Irving Junior High. We palled around a lot together. Dwight was larger than me. I was small and Dwight would not let bullies mess with me. He would take them on. He was my "protector" in the tough neighborhood. I have travelled around the country since then and thought I would look Dwight up when I planned to come back to Indiana for my 60th HS reunion from Merrillville High School. Too late I guess. Sorry I missed him. I remember Dwight's dad raising hell at Irving because they said that Dwight could not were jeans to the school. School policy they said. Dwight ended up wearing those jeans. Policy be damned!
