Memorial Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2023, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home
Asa Alan “Bud” Edwards, age 73, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 25, 2023, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville.
He was born August 3, 1949, in Danville, the son of Asa Albert and Melvina Ann (Peelman) Edwards.
Bud served in the Marines from 1969-1975 including a tour of duty in Vietnam. He enjoyed working on various electrical projects and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. Bud drove a charter bus for J.D. Transit in Cowden and was a semi driver for several companies including Swift Transportation, Crete Carrier Corporation, and U.S. Express Trucking Company. He was most recently a public transportation bus driver for Central Illinois Public Transit.
He is survived by his ex-wife: Deanita Edwards; a daughter: Jennifer Lewis; a son: Curtis Edwards; mother: Melvina Edwards; 3 grandchildren: Joselyn Lewis, Amber Lewis, and Cole Edwards; 2 brothers: Michael (Diana) Edwards and David Edwards; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday evening, July 7, 2023, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with the presentation of military funeral honors to begin at 5 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested to the family to assist with final expenses and these will be accepted through the funeral home. I didn't really know him personally, but I knew him from coming to the deli in IGA. He was always so pleasant. So sorry for your loss. God bless you all .

It is events like the death of a father, uncle, and grandfather that grips us in the core of our being. I grew up with Bud and we ended up more like brothers in than uncle and nephew. Bud always marched to his rhythm and I loved him for that and the many other facets of being "Bud." Accept my dearest wishes of peace and condolences. Love to all, Uncle Bob
Curtis, I am so sorry about the death of your father. Plz know we are praying fervently for comfort and peace for you and all of those who loved him.He was no doubt very proud of you.So am I.You have turned out to be a humble man with many talents. The next 12 mos. will be very difficult but Bruce & I will be praying for you. If you need a respite we have a well stocked pond down the hill behind the house. It is peaceful and so serene here. Bruce is working at an accounting firm in Danvillepart time.He does handyman work periodically also.If you need to talk give me a call. 227 304 7876. We do think of you often.
