Shirley Ruth Eaton, age 80, of Flora, Illinois, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at her home.
She was born June 19, 1943, in Xenia, the daughter of Charles Clifford “Cliff” and Freida (Colclasure) Zimmerman. She was united in marriage to Douglas Neil Eaton on September 3, 1966, at North Harter Christian Church, and he preceded her in passing October 12, 2020.
Shirley worked side-by-side with Neil while they owned and operated Eaton Auto Parts. She especially enjoyed being outdoors and tending to her yard, and sharing lots of time with family and friends. Her beautiful smile, marvelous sense of humor, and kindhearted spirit will remain always with those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by 2 sons: Jim (Shelley) Eaton of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Doug Eaton of Danville; 3 grandchildren: Jessica, Parker, and Grant Eaton; 2 great-grandsons: Jaxon and Emory; and 4 siblings: Charlie Zimmerman, Carl (Dana) Zimmerman, Trudy (Rick) Stanford, and Nancy (Steve) Mink.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a nephew: Jacob Zimmerman; and a sister-in-law: Jean Zimmerman.
At Shirley’s request no services will be held. Arrangements are by Frank & Bright Funeral Home. Rest well cousin Shirley. I remember the fun we had when I was a very young man when I visied you and Neil many times at your home on Valbert street. Neil and Shirley, were my cousins, who always were happy fun loving people. Your smiling face and kind personality will be missed.
