Marcie Lynn Cook, age 61, of Rinard, Illinois, passed away Tuesday morning, February 27, 2024, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.
She was born October 23, 1962, in Olney. Marcie was united in marriage to Gary Lee Cook on May 25, 1984, in Xenia.
Marcie completed her undergraduate studies at Eastern Illinois University where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in education. Her passion for healthcare led her to further her education at Olney Community College, earning an associate degree to become an LPN serving Clay and Wayne County. Marcie was a passionate NASCAR fan, and held a special place in her heart for the late Dale Earnhardt. During baseball season, she rooted for her favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals. Marcie was also proud to say she was a member of the National Rifle Association.
She is survived by her husband: Gary Cook of Rinard; son: Cody Cook of Rinard; mother: Linda (Smith) Steinhoff of Salem; father: Richard Rice of Xenia; brother: Kent (Melody) Rice of Xenia; brother-in-law: Dennis (Kathy) Cook of Flora; sister-in-law: Cindy Cook of Flora; and mother-in-law: Clara Belle Cook of Flora.
She was preceded in passing by her grandparents: John and Erma Rice; father-in-law: Jack Cook; stepfather: Norman Steinhoff; and stepmother: Deloris Rice.
A funeral ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Burial will follow in Bunker Cemetery, Rinard. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
