James Clifford “Cliff” Pennington, age 54, of Enfield, Illinois, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Cisne Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.

      He was born April 5, 1969, in Pontiac, the son of James Eldon and Hollis Marie (Fitch) Pennington. 

      Cliff was a graduate of Flora High School.  He had worked as a maintenance supervisor at Enfield Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.  He enjoyed fishing, riding four wheelers, and tinkering with small engine repair projects.  Cliff adored his grandchildren and will be greatly missed by his loved ones and his dog Bentley.

      He is survived by his daughter: Arica (Justin) Rinehart of Flora; a stepdaughter: Arriel Layne of Effingham; grandchildren: Hudson James Rinehart, Leah Layne, Kaden Layne, and Xzaviour Layne; siblings: Carolyn (Justin) Lake of Oakland City, Indiana, Billa Broz of Louisville, and Ronnie Pennington of Effingham; best friends: Brad Williams and Gary Pennington; and his beloved dog, Bentley.

      He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents: Paul and Opal Fitch; paternal grandparents: Anthony and Bessie Pennington; a brother: James Everett Pennington; 4 sisters: Jewell Rutland, Sandra Hatcher, Ruth Barger, and Ethel Stark; and 3 brothers-in-law: Kenneth Stark, Rick Broz, and Glen Hatcher.

      A graveside memorial ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Floral Garden of Memories Cemetery in Flora.  Those who wish to attend are asked to arrive directly at the cemetery.  Arrangements are by Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Memorial donations are suggested to the family to assist with final expenses, and these will be accepted through the funeral home.  To share a condolence or memory, visit: www.frankandbright.com
