Rita Rae Henderson, age 77, of Olney, and formerly of Flora, passed away Saturday evening, April 20, 2024, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.

      She was born May 31, 1946, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Austin Leroy and Gwendolyn Lorene (Milam) Whetstine.  She was united in marriage to Martin N. Henderson on December 15, 1962, in Osage City, Kansas, and together they shared 40 wedding anniversaries until his passing on May 6, 2003.

      Rita loved cats and was a big fan of Elvis Presley.  She enjoyed times spent playing Bingo, board games, and crafts.  Visiting with family and keeping up with her grandkids was always a highlight for her.  Rita was a Jehovah’s Witness for many years.

      She is survived by her children: Martin (Marnie) Henderson Jr. of Mattoon, Kathy (Perry) Stanford of Flora, David (Corrine) Henderson of Louisville, John (Susan) Henderson of Clay City, Betty (Randy) Toliver of Olney, and Linda Sanders (Jeff Patterson) of Cisne; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 4 siblings: Roberta, Cindy, John, and Lisa.

      She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter: Ann Slade; and a sister: Angela.

      A private Celebration of Life will be held on May 12, 2024.  A memorial ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Noble.  Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Flora.  Arrangements are by Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Memorial donations are suggested to Claws and Paws in Olney, and these will be accepted through the funeral home.  To share a condolence or memory, visit: www.frankandbright.com
