June Cheri Cook, age 75, of Xenia, Illinois, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, May 24, 2024, at Clay County Hospital in Flora.
Cheri was born on February 23, 1949, in Xenia, the daughter of Kenneth Reed and Lillian Rebecca (Lee) Caudle. On October 19, 1968, she married David W. Cook in Flora, and they shared 55 wonderful years together.
Cheri had worked as an Activity Director for local nursing homes. She was dedicated to helping others through volunteer work and contributing to various endeavors. Cheri's appreciation for the outdoors and her artistic flair were evident in her bright and creative paintings, which adorned many objects. Together with David, she was a member of the Studebaker Club, and she also enjoyed taking her beautifully restored Ford Coupe for a drive. Cheri's love for music and her guitar was a constant source of inspiration for her. She delighted in karaoke singing and frequently shared her musical talents with nursing home residents, filling many hours with mutual joy and smiles. A longtime member of Shiloh Church of Christ in Louisville, her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Cheri's family, especially her sons and grandchildren, were her greatest joy and source of pride, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
She is survived by her husband: David Cook of Xenia; 2 sons: Jason (Tanya) Cook of Xenia and Nate Cook (Jennifer) of Flora; 6 grandchildren: Cody (Felicia) Lane, Michael (Tiffany) Lane, Kaylee, Adara Williams (Gavin Kemp), Cloey Powless (Will Lehman), and Hunter Powless; 2 great-grandchildren: Bentley and Tenzley; 2 sisters: Jackie Sue MacArthur and Pat (Steve) Henry; 2 brothers: Joe Caudle and Mike (Tina) Caudle; 3 sisters-in-law: Donna Caudle, Darlene (Jamey) Grimsley, and Arlene (Jim) Zenisek; as well as nieces and nephews, extended family, and many friends.
She was preceded in passing by her parents: Kenneth and Lillian Caudle; 2 sisters: Glenda Underwood and Carmen Lane; and 2 brothers: Jim Caudle and Kenneth Lee Caudle.
A visitation will be held from 2 until 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Private interment will take place later at Campground Cemetery, Xenia. Condolences to the family. Cheri and I became close friends in Jr High School. We enjoyed shopping trips, lunches, and community events with other friends for many years. Precious memories I cherish.
Cheri had a warm heart, loved David deeply, as well as her kids, she cherished every moment in life, gave others joy whenever possible. Her laugh was one that made others smile with her, she was caring and did her best to make the best of a any situation. I will miss her so very much, I pray for her family; God grant them strength, in the mist of sorrow give them many moments that will bring smiles to there face when they reflect on the life she gave to them. Those moments will be cherished forever.
She was a sweetheart lady. Always had the sweetest smile.

I was blessed these last few years to get to know my sister in Christ, Cheri. She was so caring. Her love for the Lord and Dave shown brightly. She will surely be missed.

I was surprised and sad to hear of Cheri’s passing. We were classmates graduating in 1967. Condolence to her family.
We feel sorrow for her passing but rejoice in her destination.
David and Family, our deepest sympathy goes out to her husband and family. It was our blessing to meet Cherie and David almost two yrs ago when they first came to our karaoke family. They were such nice and caring people and Cherie had the voice of an angel. She will be sadly missed and Heaven will gain an angel in the Heavenly choir. So sorry Cheri lost her battle to cancer. Thoughts and prayers to all of you. Wish we could of made it to the visitations, we already had a planned trip with Quentin to Wisconsun Motofest. Love to all
