Joyce Ann Denoncour, age 64, of Flora, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024, at her home.

She was born February 17, 1960, in Olney.

Joyce was a familiar and helpful librarian at the Flora Public Library for 22 years, and had a lifelong love for reading.  She was proud of earning her Associate Degree in Office Careers: Clerical at Frontier College in 1996.  She loved looking after her grandkids, collecting coins, and was known for her sentimental nature and holding on to special mementos.  Her family treasures how she always concluded a conversation with, “I love you,” reflecting her true heart of gold.  Joyce also leaves everyone with a smile when remembering the clever pranks she played, hoping to share some laughter with those she loved.

Joyce is survived by her children: Mark (Donna) Denoncour of Wildwood, Florida, Adam Denoncour of Rinard, and Brittine Denoncour (Jordan Baird) of Flora; grandchildren: Dennis Denoncour, Dominick Denoncour, Grace Denoncour, B.J. McClellan, Joseph Bates, Trenton Denoncour, and Joplyn Baird; great-grandchildren: Bo, Clyde, Layton, Asher, and Hayden; siblings: David (Sharon) VanMatre of Wynoose, Oakie (Regina) VanMatre of Olney, Betty (Smitty) Smith of Grayville, Carl VanMatre of Indianapolis, and Debbie (Craig) Fickas of Cisne; as well as a many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in passing by her mother: Jana Lou Ramsey; father: Billy Harmon VanMatre; stepmother: Beth VanMatre; stepfather: Frank Ramsey; sister: Janice May VanMatre; and great-niece: Paige Hahn.

A funeral ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Noble.  Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to Friends of the Flora Public Library, and these will be accepted through the funeral home.  To share a memory or condolence, visit: www.frankandbright.com

Joyce was a treasure to know. Always ready to suggest a book and we had good conversations at the library. I was at the nursing home and had no idea she was there and it seemed we just picked up where we left off the last time we talked at the library. Just didn't see her as much after that. Prayers for the family and keep the memories alive.
