Brian Friend

Visitation: 1-3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora

Funeral Ceremony: 3 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Military Funeral Honors will be presented at the beginning of the ceremony.

 

 

      Brian Keith Friend, age 63, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Tuesday morning, June 4, 2024.

      He was born October 28, 1960, in Fairfield, the son of Miles W. and Barbara A. (Lowe) Friend.  He was united in marriage to Ann on November 7, 1987, in Mill Shoals, and together they have shared 36 wedding anniversaries.

      Brian served in the US Navy for 13 years, serving as a submariner on the USS Narwhal.  He earned his master’s degree and had sold insurance for Farmers Insurance since 2016.  He enjoyed reading, listening to audio books and podcasts, collecting his grandkids artwork, and music of all kinds.  Brian was a wealth of knowledge, always there to help kids with homework and be an encouraging light, especially when it came to education.

      He is survived by his wife: Ann Friend; children: Megan, Courtney (Grant), and Cassandra (Kyle); grandchildren: Jillian and Gabriel; parents: Miles and Barbara Friend; a sister: Tamara Bruce; a brother: Berry Friend; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

      A visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Military funeral honors will be presented at 3 p.m. with a funeral ceremony to follow.  Memorial donations are suggested to the family to assist with final expenses, and these will be accepted through the funeral home.  To shares a condolence or memory, visit: www.frankandbright.com
