Allen Lee Pierson, age 88, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 11, 2024, at Clay County Hospital.
He was born February 3, 1936, in Blair Township, Clay County, the son of Harry Dale and Virginia Evelyn (Cunningham) Pierson. He was united in marriage to Betty June Beal on April 30, 1954, in Johnsonville, and together they shared 44 wedding anniversaries until her passing on May 2, 1998. He later married Darlene (Herdes) Williams on October 11, 2017, and she survives.
Allen worked as the head lineman of the Electric Department for the City of Flora, retiring in 1992, after 35 years. He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Flora and had attended Sailor Springs Christian Church. Allen was a member of the Flora Masonic Lodge and the Flora Elks Lodge. He will especially be remembered as a kind and caring man, and how he truly enjoyed bringing a smile to the face of others.
He is survived by his wife: Darlene Pierson of Flora; a son: Robert Allen (Brenda) Pierson of Flora; stepchildren: Kathy Lauderback of Flora and Raymond (Lori) Williams of Flora; step grandchildren: Andrea Cash, Ashley Pool, Kylie Smith, and Tara Kasprzak; 3 great-grandchildren; 9 step-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter: Linda Kay Yauch: granddaughter: Jennifer (Yauch) Lewis; a stepson: Wayne Alan Williams; and a brother: Earl K. (Clara) Pierson.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Ron Payne officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday evening at the funeral home. I've known Allen most of my life. He and my dad both worked for the City. Allen and his family lived a block from us in the southend. He was that rare breed that was always the same; friendly, kind, smiling, and pleasant. He was a good man. My thoughts and prayers to the family.

My heart is broken for your loss. Knew Al most of my life he worked with my father at the city. He was a sweet kind man. We both were so happy to become neighbors when l moved back. My heart goes out to Bobby and Brenda. Darlene was a blessing to him please know l hold you in my prayers. God be with all of you through this difficult time.
Dear Bob and Brenda, My deepest condolences to you and your family for the loss of your wonderful dad. I have so many fond memories of your parents when we were growing up. He and your mom stood up with my parents when they got married. Hope they are all hanging out in Heaven tonight.
Allen was so incredibly kind. He was a person that truly had God's love shinning through him!! He never failed to speak to me whenever we'd see each other out and about. Bob(Brenda) and family my condolences!!
