Julie Ann Cates, age 66, of Cisne, Illinois, passed away Thursday morning, June 20, 2024, at her home.
She was born March 13, 1958, in Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of Ward and Judith Ellen (Jostes) Kerr.
Julie had previously worked at N.A.L. She was an incredibly talented artist and will be remembered for her loving and caring personality, always giving back to the community whenever possible. She cherished spending time with her granddaughter Maisie, loved animals, and enjoyed fishing.
She is survived by her daughter: Christina (Joseph) Schallmo of Cisne; granddaughter: Maisie; partner: Clif Cates of Cisne; 2 sisters: Kathy Turner and Deb (William) Brzoznowski; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son: Daniel Cates; father: Ward Kerr; mother and stepfather: Judith and William Sliker; a brother: Jim Kerr; and grandmother: Nellie Kerr.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Richland Cemetery, Wayne County. So sorry to hear of your passing Julie. You will be sadly missed by all. You were a very talented woman when it came to your paintings and your wire wrapping art. You were amazing at all of it. You could do anything you put your mind to it. I will miss our talks too. No more treatments now. You went through a lot. You are all healed now in the arms of Jesus.
