Jeannie D. King, age 74, of Flora, Illinois, passed away peacefully Monday morning, July 1, 2024, at Flora Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
She was born January 1, 1950, in Vincennes, Indiana, the daughter of Justice R. and Donna Lee (Crutchfield) Grove. Jeannie married Charlie E. King on April 1, 2018, at First Southern Baptist Church in Flora, and they cherished their six anniversaries together.
Jeannie retired from North American Lighting and had worked at World Color Press in Salem. She had previously worked at Flora Wal-Mart. She enjoyed painting and drawing, crossword puzzles, fishing, going out to eat with Charlie, and taking long scenic drives. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church and a past longtime member of Oak Street Baptist Church.
Jeannie is survived by her husband, Charlie King of Flora; son, Danny W. Gay of Olney; stepson, Mark King of Maple Park; sister, Karen (Mark) Shehorn of Flora; grandson, Alex P. Gay of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Karen Grove of Bridgeport; and her former husband and the father of Danny, John W. Gay of Claremont. She was preceded in passing by her parents; brother, Richard Grove; aunts and uncles, Charles and Shirley Crutchfield, and Ella and Sam Cotterell; and stepson, Tony King.
A funeral ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Flora. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Clay County Cancer Crusaders or First Southern Baptist Church of Flora. I loved Jeannie...She was a upbeat lady... We met and worked together at the Bra factory here in Flora many years ago..Always had a smile on her face..Love You Lady!!
