Don Edwin Blackwell, age 78, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Saturday morning, September 14, 2024, at his home.
He was born November 5, 1945, in Xenia, the son of Thornton R. and Moine (Deain) Blackwell Jr. He was united in marriage to Sandra K. Griffith on February 8, 1964, and together they shared 53 wedding anniversaries until her death on March 11, 2017.
Don served in the Army during the Vietnam Era stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He had worked as a welder for GSI in Flora, McGrew Welding, and Shulman Brothers. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, listening to old country songs, and spending time reminiscing with friends around the fire. He always looked forward to spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children: Don (Donna) Blackwell Jr. of Jackson, Tennessee, Candi (Gene) McVay of Franklinville, North Carolina, and Traci (Jim) Stanley of Flora; grandchildren: Autumn (Ernie) Baugh of Franklinville, North Carolina, Autumn (Chris) Miller of Flora, Sydney Blackwell of Champaign, Charlee (Dawson) Britton of Flora, and Jackson Blackwell of Fisher; great-grandchildren: Lexus Allison of Flora, Mason Miller of Flora, Jase Corey of Asheboro, North Carolina, Lynnex Baugh of Franklinville, North Carolina, Elias Blackwell of Champaign, Ollyver Britton of Flora, and Nolan Baugh of Franklinville, North Carolina; a great-great-grandchild: Oakley Miller of Flora; and a brother: David (Vicki) Blackwell of Flora.
He was preceded in death by his father: Thornton Blackwell Jr.; mother: Moine (Deain) Windle; wife: Sandy Blackwell; a brother: Larry “Joe” Blackwell; and a sister: Charlotte Blackwell Wilkins.

Tracy I'm very sorry to hear of Dons passing, I have lots of memories when I was a kid, he did some welding for his dad Thornton/ Junior was my neighbor.
