Private interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Kinmundy.
Peggy Sue Long, age 66, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at St. Louis University Hospital.
She was born January 4, 1958, in Vandalia, the daughter of Ralph Emerson and Daisy Velora (Longcor)Thompson. She was united in marriage to Jerry Eugene Long and together they shared 35 wedding anniversaries until his passing on February 14, 2015.
Peggy had worked at Chestnut Corner Shelter Care in Louisville taking care of the handicapped, often stating it was her favorite job. She was also a homemaker and dedicated grandmother who cherished every moment she was able to spend with her grandkids coloring and making memories. Peggy had truly loved being a girl scout troop leader and had always looked forward to walking in the many parades.
She is survived by her children: David (Sheila) Greenwood of Louisville, Brian Long (Angelica Sanchez) of Flora, Eric Long of Rushville, Gerry Long of Watson, Tammy (Ty) Huestis of Kinmundy, and Michelle Butts of Kinmundy; grandchildren: Brooklyn, Alexis, Mckenzie, Madison, Cheyenne, Kayla, Preston, Lindsey, Kendra, Chelsea, Brandon, Emma, Matthew, Shauna, Tyler, Seth, and Brittany; 2 sisters: Mary (Jerry) Lappin of Scheller and Donna Rose Cranford of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; sister-in-law: Donna Wright of Mulberry Grove; cousin: Daniel Crain of Salem, special friend: Tammy Mefford of Rinard, and a close friend: Kenneth (Stephanie) Weaver of Flora.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 2 sisters: Sandy Bollhorst and Barbara Jean Thompson; and 2 brothers-in-law: Larry Wright and Richard Bollhorst.
Private interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Kinmundy. Arrangements are by Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.
