Bruce Alan Sharp, age 35, of Clay City, Illinois, passed away Saturday evening, December 14, 2024, at Clay County Hospital.
He was born December 25, 1988, in Olney, the son of Richard Wayne and Vicky Lynn (Basinger) Sharp.
Bruce was a graduate of Clay City High School class of 2007, where he was nominated most talkative. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy and went on to further his education, earning a bachelor’s degree from Millikin University. Bruce was currently employed as a truck driver for Warrior Trucking in Clay City. He was the greatest dad to his children and shared with them his love of racing and Nascar by taking them to watch races any time he had the chance. He enjoyed hunting for deer and rabbits, fishing—especially catfishing, and playing softball for the civics league in Clay City.
He is survived by his wife: Jessica Sharp of Clay City; 4 children: Waylyn Alan Sharp, Raymond Bruce Sharp, Logan Marshall Sharp, and Autumn Rayne (Trenton) Denoncour; grandchildren: Asher and Hayden; 2 sisters: Alysa (Tyler) Botkin of Olney and Haley Sharp of Harrisburg; a brother: James Sharp of Harrisburg; father: Richard Sharp of Clay City; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was greeted in Heaven by his mother: Vicky Sharp, and his maternal grandparents: Walter and Freda Basinger.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Brandon Duvall officiating. Military funeral honors will be presented at the conclusion of the ceremony. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to a love fund for the benefit of Bruce’s children, and these will be accepted through the funeral home. Please make checks payable to Jessica Dooley. I was so sorry to hear if Bruce's passing. I remember him when he was just a little boy, such a cute little guy, and his momma was so proud of him. I hate that he left everyone here who loved him, but I'm happy he is with his momma again..much love to his family, Rest in Sweet Peace Bruce..your are in good hands🙏
I’m so sorry for your loss. I work at Millikin University. Bruce was a safe ride driver for the department. I enjoyed working with him. He will be deeply missed.
Bruce and I met a few years ago hauling coal, he was struggling with his tarp and i stopped to help, who would know that a simple helping hand led to having a really good friend such as Bruce. He will definitely be missed, and i sure will miss the advice and guidance from him. My family and I sure will miss ya bruce. God speed brother!
A very caring man who was loving, caring for Jessica and the boys and autumn and the rest of the family enjoyed cooking on the grill and smoker and had lots of plans but God has a plan for Bruce may you rest in peace God will do the rest for you 🙏

Man it still don't feel real. I miss u Bruce we had fun from cookouts to just hanging out when u came in town to get ur coffee. I was fun running coal with ya. U will be missed. Just wish I could hear ur voice one more time bro. Rest easy brother l. We got the loads from here. I love ya bro!
I am so sorry for your loss. I am also sorry I had to work and could not attend his service. I remember when he was born . I loved your mom and again, I am truly sorry 😞 May he rest in peace.❤️
