Donnie R. “Tack” Tackitt, age 85, of North Port, Florida, and formerly of Clay County, Illinois, passed away February 5, 2025.
He was born February 8, 1939, the son of Ora Tackitt and Eileen (Burgess) Tackitt McCormick. He was united in marriage to Kathy Mikesell in Greenville, Ohio in May of 1969, and together they had 3 children: Shane, Katie, and Sherrie (deceased); 6 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
Donnie enlisted in the Marines in 1957, honorably serving for 3 years. He worked 12 years at North American Lighting in Flora before retiring at which time he and Kathy moved to North Port, Florida.
He is also survived by his siblings: Linda Yarbrough of North Port, Florida, Bill Tackitt of Huntington, Patricia Pilman of Xenia, Shirley Henson of Xenia, and Michael Tackitt of Monticello; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and an aunt: Deloris Brewer.
Interment will take place at a later date in Campground Cemetery in Xenia.

So sorry to hear of Donnie's passing. Love and prayers to all the Tackitt family and friends.
Donnie and his family along with the Eckelberry’s, especially in our younger days, spent time together almost as one family. We ‘terrorized’ our neighbors in Sinton, Texas and we spent many days together exploring all the fishing and swimming holes around Flora and Xenia among other wonderful adventures!! Donnie was like a brother and we will always remember him and miss him. God bless Donnie and his family.
