Norma Jean Peters, age 94, of Flora, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday morning, February 14, 2025.
Jean was born on July 9, 1930, in Flora, the daughter of Clarence Marvin and Maude Serena (Tolliver) Myers. On August 30, 1947, she married Charles “Dink” Peters in Clay County, and they celebrated 54 wedding anniversaries together prior to his passing on December 22, 2001.
Jean will be fondly remembered for her love of sewing, quilting, and crocheting. Over the years, she created many handmade quilts, each crafted with love and careful attention to detail. Just ten years ago, she discovered a passion for oil painting, leaving behind a collection of beautiful pieces for her family.
She worked as a seamstress at Four Sisters Manufacturing Company in Flora and was a devoted member of Bloom Baptist Church, where she actively participated in Bible School and the WMU group. She had also been a Cub Scout leader. Jean found happiness in the outdoors, enjoying activities such as fishing and archery. She really enjoyed playing cards every week, and more than anything she treasured the time that she could spend with her family.
She is survived by her four children: Dorothy (Loren) Kauble of Clay City, Larry “Jake” (Judy) Peters of Xenia, Mary (Bill) Cisne of Louisville, and Charlie (Patty) Peters of Cisne; 7 grandchildren: Lance (Kelly) Kauble of Clay City, Erin (Jason) Dehart of Clay City, Avery (Devin) Williams of Flora, Travis (Margaret) Oestreich of Cisne, Samuel Wilson of McLeansboro, Kari (Scott) Warren of Flora, and Josh (Jenna) Peters of Normal; 13 great-grandchildren: Holden and Grant Kauble, Tate and Dax Williams, Landon Oestreich (Gillian Bowers), Victoria Wilson, Ethynn Wilson, Rheyse (Aven) Kimmell, Kenna Warren (Brett Williams), Thane Warren, and Sylvia, Graham, and Henry Rynerson; and 2 great-great-grandchildren: Colt Wilson and Everyn Kimmell.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; her parents-in-law: Robert “Pete” and Dorothy “Dot” Peters; a daughter: Martha Wilson; a granddaughter: Michelle Peters; 2 grandsons: Jonathan Wilson and David Leslie Wilson Jr.; 4 brothers: Byron, Myron, Marvin, and Kenneth Myers; and 5 sisters: Marie Casolari, Dorretha Grahn, Betty McCarrell, Arline Jaehnig, and Louise Bell.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora, with interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 until 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Bloom Baptist Church and will be accepted through the funeral home. She was a jewl. Made the best stew. Aunt Jean you were a kind, gentle woman, but mostly a God fearing woman. A trait given to many, your love of Jesus, but few embrace. Rest in the folds of the savior.

Aunt Jean, you were the heart and soul of your immediate family and the extended family who gathered for annual Myers family reunions. We remember how kind and loving you were. So sorry to hear this. Jean was a beautiful lady inside and out. Prayers for the family.
Growing up, the Peters household was like a second home to me. Jean was an amazing human being. She was always happy and smiling. I never heard an unkind word or criticism come out of her mouth. In all those years, I never saw her mad. She loved her family and it was evident all the time. She could do anything whether it was cooking sewing or crafting. She made my wedding dress for me in 1970 and it was beautiful. I still have it to this day. She was the ultimate mother and friend. My heart hurts for her children and grandchildren. To the family, I’m so sorry for your loss. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. I love your mother. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you during this sad time. Heaven gained a beautiful angel w hen Jean Peters entered the gates. RIP Jean❣️

She was blessed with a wonderful talent in her needle work. She did so many good deeds for others that can not be forgotten. For instance delivering Christmas flowers to so many. Jean and Mary Katherine did this for several years, until it became too hard for them. them. I pray for each member of her family, that God bring all of you comfort and peace during this difficult time.
