David I. LeFever, age 59, of Clay City, IL passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.
David was born May 29, 1954 in San Diego, CA to Irving Velmore LeFever and Bertha (Smith) LeFever Thompson. He married Carol Poe on May 13, 1995 in Clay City. David worked in the oil fields most of his life and served in the U.S. Marines. He enjoyed reading, cooking, fishing, and tending to a vegetable garden and loved his two dogs “The Boys”.
He is survived by his wife: Carol LeFever of Clay City; 4 children: Charity, Amanda, Audrey, and James LeFever all of Florida; his mother: Bertha Thompson of Flora; a sister: Helen (Ken) Markham of Flora; two brothers: Ted (Deb) Thompson of Flora and Rob (Vicki) Thompson of Clay City; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his fathers (Irving LeFever and Sam Thompson), two sons (Jason and Joshua LeFever), a daughter (Cara LeFever), and a sister (Karen Hunt).
The funeral service for David LeFever will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 25, 2013 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Rusk Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to D.A.V. or to the charity of the donor’s choice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
From classmates near and far we are saddened to hear of David's passing. Please know while we may not be able to be there with you in person, we are with you in thought and prayer as you lay your loved one to rest. Our deepest sympathies to the family.
We just talked recently, of the great times we had together as children. He was a good friend. I am so sorry for your loss. God Bless you.

I was sad to hear of David's passing. I don't think I had seen him more than a dozen times since high school, but I remember well his smile and what a nice person he was. My deepest sympathies to all the family. You are in my thoughts and prayers during this painful and difficult time.
I'm sending my sincerest condolences on David's passing from this life. While you are mourning his loss, I'm sure that David is marveling at Heaven. He was a fun high school classmate with a wonderful personality. Thank God for his faithfulness and comfort-His arms are wrapped around you, and He is healing your hearts.
