Martin Donnie Plemmons, age 82, of Louisville, Illinois, passed away early Thursday morning, April 3, 2025, at Axiom Gardens of Flora.
He was born May 26, 1942, in Marshall, North Carolina, the son of Paul and Margaret (Snelson) Plemmons. He was united in marriage to Betty C. Pierson on October 26, 1963, in Aurora, and together they have shared 61 years filled with love and memories.
Martin had worked in construction and as a mechanic at Russ Braunecker Cadillac, Buick, and GMC. He was one to always keep busy, often helping family with remodeling projects, taking great pride in a job well done. He had a passion for carpentry and woodworking, often crafting things for family and friends. He enjoyed time spent gardening and going on walks with his granddog, Buddy. Martin was an avid fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Nascar racing. Some of his happiest memories were the trips he shared with Brenda to the Daytona 500 — moments filled with excitement, laughter, and a deep love of the sport and each other’s company.
He is survived by his wife: Betty Plemmons of Louisville; a daughter: Brenda (Wade) Williams of Louisville; 2 brothers: Ted Plemmons and Roy Plemmons; a sister: Lola Mae Griffith; 2 brothers-in-law: Bill Pierson of Rome, Georgia and John (Linda) Pierson of Louisville; 2 sisters-in-law: Nancy Weidner of Louisville and Janice (Don) Oliver of Newburgh, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers: Bill Plemmons and Joe Plemmons; a sister: Katherine Chandler; father and mother-in-law: Elbert and Ruby Pierson; brothers-in-law: Darrell (Janet) Pierson, Phillip Pierson, Jim Pierson, and Eugene Pierson; sisters-in-law: Margaret Wood, Ruth Pierson, and Martha Pierson.
