Helen L. Wyman, age 90, of Flora, IL passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Clay County Hospital in Flora.
Helen was born January 25, 1923 in Clay County, IL to Herschel and Gladys (Logan) Higgason. She married Orse “Mink” Wyman on June 24, 1942 in Louisville. He preceded her in death on July 2, 1998. Helen had worked at Sparton Manufacturing and was a talented musician, playing guitar in groups over the years. She was of the Christian faith, enjoyed quilting and flowers, and loved her dog “Queen”. Those that knew her knew how she tended to her family.
Helen is survived by her two daughters: Marion Wyman of Flora and Brenda (Jim) Thompson of Flora; 3 grandchildren: Douglas McDannel of Harriman, TN, Randi Thompson of Flora, and Jami (Eric) Lewis of Bible Grove; 6 great-grandchildren: Kassidi, Kari, Blake, Sierra, Chloe, Colin; 2 great-great-grandchildren: Troy and Dani; and several nieces and nephews including Phyllis Hill of Michigan and Les Higgason of Flora. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson (Daniel McDannel), two brothers (Lloyd and Harold Higgason), and a sister (Vivian Cantrell).
The funeral service for Helen Wyman will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, December 27, 2013 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home with interment following in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Xenia. Visitation will be from 10-11:30 a.m. Friday, December 27, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. Memorials donations may be given to Fur A Good Paws or to that of the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home. An online guest book is available at www.frankandbright.com.

I'm so glad Mom and I stopped by to see her and Marion the last time I was in Flora...they were gardening and enjoying the day. Many happy memories to hold onto, my friend. Your mother's legendary patience and kindness is well known. She was also a exceptional neighbor, and we will miss visiting with her when we come to Flora. We are so sorry for your loss.
Brenda, Marian and Families: We are so sorry for your loss. Your mother was a good and kind lady. Brenda, I remember when we were in grade school and you had slumber parties. We'd sleep out on the porch and your mom had every snack there was and was so patient with all us giggly girls. I have fond memories of her. You are all in our thoughts and prayers during this time and in the days to come. May God bless and comfort each of you.
Helen was a lovely lady and very kind gentle and kind. Our family enjoyed being neighbors with her for many years.
Marion I am so sorry about your Mother, I enjoyed talking with her when I worked at the Dollar Store. My thoughts and prayer are with you and your family. This is a very hard time to lose a Mother.
I am so sorry for your loss. What great memories I have of your mom. Our parents sure had good times together. She was always such a sweet and kind lady. She will be greatly missed, but my memories of her will live on.
