Its with a heavy heart that I write this, Herb was like my second Dad. He was sweet, loving and an inspiration as to follow as parent. You could see his love of God in his life everyday, I was lucky to have known him and so were my siblings. Love you Pat, Debbie ana David. Know Herb is up in Heaven with Bertie and my parents.
Dear Pat, David, and Debbie: Debbie and I came to First Baptist Church in Clay City in the Summer of 1993. It was time for Vacation Bible School. Pat, you and Herb and Bertie were some of the first people that we got to know and you soon became family. Before long, we realized our need for Deacons and Herb was one of the three that were ordained early in our ministry. Herb proved over and over that the trust and respect that his church family placed in him was well earned and deserved. Herb and Pat, along with my own Mom and Dad and Guilford Lynn and a very few others became our greatest prayer warriors. I really think Satan trembled when you all were praying. We have gone through a lot of struggles in our 20 plus years and without Herbert Burt's prayers and encouragement, it would have been much more difficult. I never heard him say anything bad about anyone. People like him are very hard to find, much less, those willing to commit to the LORD and the Church to be a deacon . He certainly was a Proverbs 3 kind of man. May GOD Bless The Family of HERBERT BURT.
