Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church in Flora
Wilson Roger Fitzgerald, age 63, of St. Charles, IL, formerly of the Carbondale and Marion area, and originally from Clay County, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights, IL.
He was born September 19, 1950 in Flora, IL to E.O. Fitzgerald and Elsie (Thornton) Fitzgerald. During his life, Mr. Fitzgerald worked as a newspaper photographer, a roughnecker, worked at a camp, and was a handyman and a painter. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and camping.
He is survived by five children: Wilson Roger Fitzgerald of Sumner, Adam Troy Fitzgerald of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Raquel Fitzgerald of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Tammy Barry (husband Darren) of Mt. Pleasant, MI, and U.S. Marine Gunny E 7 Richard Fitzgerald (wife Stephanie) stationed in San Diego, CA; a sister: Beverly Fitzgerald Williams (husband Jerry) of Flora; two brothers: Jim Fitzgerald of St. Charles, Danny Fitzgerald (wife Glenda) of Mattoon; 5 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents (E.O. and Elsie Fitzgerald) and two brothers (Phillip and Thornton Fitzgerald).
A memorial service for Wilson Roger Fitzgerald will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church in Flora. Burial will be in Hoosier Prairie Cemetery. My brothers and I used to ride the bus and went to school with Roger, Troy, Raquel and Tammy in Louisville. We were neighbors also. Sorry for the loss of your father. Prayers for you all.
Growing up in a small town like Flora, all of us over the years will always remain like family. So sorry for your loss, Danny.

I am the daughter that not many now about. But I did have you in my life for a short time. I wish I could have had more time to get to know my father and the rest of my brothers and sisters. I am sorry for our loss my condolences to the rest of the family.
