Graveside Service: 3 p.m. Saturday (May 24, 2014) at Clay City Cemetery
Lois M. Hiser, age 86, of Olney, Illinois, formerly of Clay City, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.
Lois was born June 1, 1927 in Minnesota to Fred and Hilda (Weber) Praxel. It was love at first sight when Lois met William R. “Boone” Hiser and they were married on September 14, 1945 and enjoyed 59 years of long-lasting love. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2004. Lois worked at a nursing home during her working years and helped her husband during his tenure as Clay County Sheriff. She was of the Lutheran Faith and enjoyed being with her family and she especially loved doting over the grandchildren.
Lois is survived by her daughter: Sharon K. Welty of Louisville; 2 grandchildren: Paula K. Hargis (husband Chris) of Petersburg, Tennessee and Larry Robert Eickleberry (wife Joliene) of Seneca; 4 great-grandchildren: Bryant Smith of Louisville, Dylan Bliss of Petersburg, Tennessee, Carissa Bliss of Petersburg, Tennessee, Krista Eickleberry of Seneca; 1 brother: Fred Praxel (wife Bobbi) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; 1 sister: Pat Ewert (husband Earl) of Wisconsin; 1 sister-in-law: Patsy Cordell of Olney; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter (Karyl Eickleberry), 2 sisters (Shirley Quinlan and Dorothy Sherman), and 1 brother (Bob Praxel).
A graveside service for Lois Hiser will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Clay City Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora is assisting the family with arrangements.
