Funeral: 2 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2014 at First Church of God
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home and from 1 p.m. until service time on Sunday at the church
John Lauderback, Jr., age 90, of Flora, Illinois passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at his home in Flora.
John was born March 17, 1924 in Flora to John O. and Florence (Wireman) Lauderback. He married Sarah Margaret Wagley on April 9, 1940 in Flora. She preceded him in death on November 2, 2012. John worked as a foreman at International Shoe Factory in the cutting department and was also a retired custodian at Flora High School. He was a founding and faithful member of First Church of God where he taught Sunday School for over 40 years. John served in the U.S. Army during WWII and hadn’t been in a plane since then until recently on May 22nd when he had the opportunity to travel on a Veteran’s Honor Flight. John was loyal to his family and country, enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and never missed a family get-together.
He is survived by a son: Carl (Kathy) Lauderback of Flora; 2 daughters: Debby (Clint) Kimel of Anderson, South Carolina and Glenda Lauderback of Flora; grandson: Jason (Jaclyn) Lauderback of Naperville; great-grandchildren: Chloe Ann and Parker Jonathon; and a sister: Thelma Smith of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother and sister-in-law (Robert William and Thelma Lauderback).
The funeral service for John Lauderback Jr. will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2014 at First Church of God in Flora. Interment will follow in Floral Garden of Memories, Flora, with military honors. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home and from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday at the church. The preferred form of remembrance is memorials to First Church of God and will be accepted at the funeral home.

I am so sorry to hear of John's passing. He was such a good neighbor to my husband and me. He will missed so much.

John was such a great man known him for years he grew the Best Tomatoes ever bought them from him for Years and a GREAT NEIGHBOR will be GREATLY MISSED

Johnny was a kind and Christian man who was always so very helpful. His laid-back spirit made him so easy to be around and his quiet voice was full of positive words. He was wonderful role model for many and I will miss his sweet spirit. Heaven is a little brighter with Johnny tending the gardens.
Johnny Lauderback loved and served God. His life was a shinning example of a Christian. Johnny was always willing to serve in the church and help people. He truly loved and provided for his family. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Johnny was the true, living example of a Christian. He was loved by so many and he in turn loved so many. He was kind and generous to everyone and will be so missed by family, friends and his church family. Not sure how his church family will go on without his presence. He was such a great servant. Loving thoughts go out to his children, Carl, Debbie and Glenda.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I was just telling my son the other day how lucky I was to be able to shoot baskets at the gym just about any time because of the friendship I had with the custodians. John, Gene, Raynard and Ted were the best group of guys, and some of our biggest fans back in the day. God Bless.
