Brenda Sue Sunderland, age 48, of Flora, Illinois passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Clay County Hospital in Flora.
She was born August 30, 1966 in Decatur, Illinois to Jimmy and Catherine (Krouse) Sunderland. Brenda worked at Clay County Rehabilitation Center and was caring and compassionate towards others, never feeling limited by her disabilities. She enjoyed collecting dolls and any kind of animal brought her joy.
Brenda is survived by her parents: Jimmy and Bev Sunderland of Xenia; brother: Jimmy Sunderland Jr. of Springfield; sister: Cheryl Sunderland of Effingham; step-sister: Angela (Ray) Zinnen of Springfield; step-brother: Matthew (Becky) Johnson of Flora; along with many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. She will also be missed by her primary caregivers and friends at Quail Haven. Brenda was preceded in death by her mother: Catherine Sunderland.
A visitation and gathering of friends for Brenda Sunderland will be held from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. (Noon) on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. A committal service and interment will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 13th in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. Friends and family are invited to meet at the cemetery. We at CCR enjoyed Brenda soo much!!!She was always so considerate of others and loved to write letters when she could!!!We were so close to her and enjoyed her friendship!!!She was very fond of 1on1 talks!!!I cannot say enough about Brenda and her friendship!!She will ALWAYS have a place in our hearts!!!Saddly missed,but LOVINGLY remembered!!! I'm blessed so much that my path crossed with this sweetheart! I will hold my memories of her very near and dear to my heart. Rest in peace Brenda Sue....I know you are rejoicing in Heaven with Jesus as I type this! ♡

Brenda was a wonderful person full of love and happiness. I enjoyed my time with her from Flora Manor and Quail Haven. She had a great sense of humor and I am honored to know her. I miss showing up at work at 11pm and hearing her yelling Steve can you put my hair in curlers! RIP Brenda you were loved and will be missed.
