James Leroy “Binger” Uebinger, age 78, of Flora, IL, passed away at 7:55 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at home, surrounded by his family.
Jim was born in Wendelin on April 19, 1936, and married Donna Lee on June 3, 1956, in a ceremony at her parent’s home in Flora. During his lifetime, Jim owned three Flora-area businesses: Uebinger’s Shell Service Station, Jim Uebinger Trailer Sales, and Uebinger’s Home Furnishings. Jim was always the ultimate “car man.” He liked to look at cars, talk about cars, and especially loved to drive cars (always too fast in his younger days.) Jim was a Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church of Flora.
Jim is survived by his wife: Donna Uebinger of Flora; children: Brad Lee Uebinger of Avon, IN, Shari (Jeff) Harvey of Flora, and James Brent (Tammy) Uebinger of Flora; stepfather: Leo Smith of Flora; brothers: Richard (Golda) Cunningham of North Miami, FL, David (Nancy) Briscoe of Norris City; sisters: Sue (Bing) Lowe of Lockhart, TX, and Marie Browning of Flora; sister-in-law: Ruby Warren of Flora; and brother-in-law: Bob (Marie) Lee of Ellerslie, GA; 5 grandchildren: Brandi (Danny) Brown of Seattle, WA, Trenton Harvey of Austin, TX, Shannon (John) Hurliman of Bloomington, Rylee Uebinger of Flora, and Elizabeth Williams of Flora; 5 great-grandchildren with a 6th one “on the way”; and many nieces and nephews. He counted the members of the McDonald’s coffee drinkers among his special friends.
A funeral service for Jim Uebinger will be held at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora at 12 Noon on Saturday, January 24, 2015. A visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday. Interment will follow in Floral Garden of Memories Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests giving to a college fund for Rylee Uebinger or First Baptist Church of Flora. To share a condolence or memory, visit www.frankandbright.com.

You shared the love of God, the love you have for each other, the love of and for your children and of your grandchildren, the love of traveling, your love for First Baptist and life in general. He will leave a void and I pray God will wrap His loving arms around each of you to bring comfort during the difficult days ahead.
Rick has fond memories of working at the Shell station in the 60's when gas was 28cents/gal. Jim always allowed Rick to wash and work on his car inside during evenings and never complained of me hanging around. We surprised him along with others at his 50th birthday at The Green Lantern his favorite place to eat. Greatly enjoyed his friendship thru the years and sincerely missed.
