Dominic Alfred Cricelli, age 87, of Flora, Illinois passed away at 4:25 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at his home in Flora.
Dominic was born November 12, 1927 in Caulonia, Italy, the son of Frank and Carmella (Calipari) Cricelli. He married Mary Ann Stadterman on March 23, 1957 in Pittsburg, PA. She preceded him in death on August 9, 1997. Dominic came to the U.S.A. through Ellis Island at the age of 21. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Dominic worked as an engineer and was the General Manager of Jenmar/Valley Steel, held memberships with Kiwanis and Elks, and was affiliated with St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Flora. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and in his spare time, he enjoyed his hobbies of steelwork and woodwork, along with being a talented guitar and mandolin player.
He is survived by one son and two daughters: Frank (Dianna) Cricelli of Pocahontas, Carmelina Cricelli of Indianapolis, IN, and Vicky (Dale) Milner of Flora; 3 grandsons: Christopher Cricelli of Indianapolis, IN, Dominic Nick Cricelli and Nathan (Calli) Cricelli of Highland; 4 step-grandchildren: Andy (Stephanie) Milner of Fairfield, Jimmy Milner (significant other Lacie Chaudoin) of Albers, Daren (Michelle) Milner of Olney, Natalie (Kyle) Dagg of Fairfield; 4 great-grandchildren: Abbygail, Damien, Alexia, and Parker Cricelli; 10 step-great-grandchildren: Madelyn and Jaedyn Moyes, Lainie, Blaine, and Cale Milner, Kobi, Luke, and Valorie Dagg, Joey and Riley Walch; 3 sisters: Teresa Greco, Maria (Vincenzo) Mirigliano, and Tina Orobello all of Italy; sister-in-law: Carol Schuj of Summerville, SC; 3 special friends: Marsha Paul, Sharon Reynolds, and Michelle Stilt; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one sister, and four brother-in-laws.
A funeral service for Dominic Cricelli will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2015, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Visitation will be from 12 Noon-2 p.m. on Sunday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. A Rosary Service will be at 2 p.m. immediately followed by the funeral service. Interment will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery with military honors. Memorial donations may be given to Kiwanis or Clay County Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
