Pastor Mark H. Shell, age 54, of Wayne City, Illinois, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015, at his home in Wayne City.
Mark was born April 25, 1960, in Fairfield, the son of Jackie and Iris (Henry) Shell. He married Kay Miller on June 22, 1979 at Keenes Community Chapel and together they’ve shared 35 years of marriage.

He was preceded in death by his parents, paternal grandfather: Warren Shell, and maternal grandmother: Maxine Henry.
A funeral service for Pastor Mark Shell will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2015, at Orchardville Church in Orchardville. Interment will be in Thomason Cemetery, Wayne City. Pastor Mark has impacted our lives more than anyone!!! George will quote a phrase from Mark Shell in so many discussions we have. He always say, well Mark said...... and I have caught myself doing the same. He has blessed our lives so much! We love you Mark so much and will be greatly missed! Until we meet again Brother!
"On Christ the solid rock I stand.." Mark & Kay showed us what it meant to stand on the Rock. Troy and I could not be where we are today without the teaching & preaching of our faithful Pastor Mark Shell. Some say we were lucky to have known him, to those people I say luck had nothing to do with it, we are BLESSED! Thank you Mark Shell, without God using you Troy & I would still be the lost sheep. Our hearts hurt now, but Mark has found his eternal home in Heaven & I can't imagine what that was like for him, to finally meet the sweet Jesus that he had been teaching about for so many years. We love & miss you and will forever carry a part of you in our hearts. Kay, we love you so much! Praying for you, Josh, Candice and your family.

Of the many things I (Chris) remember during Mark's sermons was when he got to heaven he wanted to hear the Apostle Paul sing Amazing Grace. Wow! I'm sure the song has never sounded as good here on earth as it has when Paul, Mark, Greg Burgess, Lonnie Lawler, Harlan Withrow and others of the church family that have passed on chimed in to sing it to The Lord!! An amazing sight and time for sure! It's a sad thing that Mark has left too soon... but it's a very happy thing that Mark and all of them are in Paradise with the Lord! God bless you Kay ,Josh, Candice and family!

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Shell family. Pastor Mark started to speak and I felt this was the first time in my life that I found out what a church family was. He was a wonderful man who influenced church and the members. Have faith and know he was a well respected man and Pastor.
While we only became acquainted with Pastor Mark for such a short period, we share in the sorrow of your loss. However, we are comforted with the knowledge that he is in heaven with his beloved Savior! Pastor Mark touched so many lives through his service to the Lord by pastoring at Orchardville Church and the tape ministry. We still enjoy listening to his messages and the music of the worship team. Our prayers for comfort are with Kay and family during this sorrowful time.

I apologize for being selfish,I really wanted to meet the man. Oh well...some day I will have the honor...I finally understood the simplicity of salvation through Jesus Christ and I will thank Pastor Shell in person some day. God bless his family.
