Stalford M. Duvall, age 89, of Louisville, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2015, at Burgin Manor in Olney, Illinois.
Stalford was born March 15, 1926 in Edmonton County, Kentucky to Patrick and Lessie (Roof) Duvall. He married Bernell Coulter on February 17, 1951 in Franklin, KY. Stalford served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and later in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict, finishing with the Air Force Reserve. He also worked as a civil service employee at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Crane, IN, for a total of 38 years of service.
Stalford was a member of Red Brush Christian Church. While living in Indiana, he was active in Freemasonry, having been a Mason and member of Scottish Rite, Eastern Star, and Hadi Shrine Temple in Evansville. In his spare time, Stalford enjoyed gardening and taking care of flowers and considered the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren his most important thing in life.
He is survived by his wife: Bernell Duvall of Louisville; daughter: Beverly Gayle (Lynn) Yeager of Bible Grove; 3 grandchildren: John (Jennifer) Myers of Bloomington, IN, Andy (Jamie) Myers of Flora, Carleigh Yeager of Bible Grove; 4 great-grandchildren: Dylan Myers, Jaycee Myers, Mallory Myers, and Marli Myers; and 1 brother: Dee (Lida) Duvall of Sweeden, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son: Danny Duvall, 2 brothers, and 4 sisters.
A funeral service for Stalford Duvall will be held at 12 (Noon) Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at Red Brush Christian Church, Louisville, with visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday at the church. Interment will be in Red Brush Cemetery with military honors. Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorial donations be made to the Clay County/Louisville Veterans Memorial and will be accepted at the funeral home. I met Stalford when we both were attending cardiac rehab at the hospital. He was a charming, witty, sweet and friendly gentleman with a winning smile. I always looked forward to rehab days because he made it so pleasant. My condolences to his family. Prayers for peace and comfort.
