Kathi Lynn O’Dell, 60, of Palmetto, FL, formerly of Louisville, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, FL after nearly a year long battle with cancer.

   Kathi was born on May 9, 1954, in Clay County, the daughter of Charles McPeak and Shaune (Roberts) McPeak. Kathi married Thomas “Tom” Leland O’Dell on November 17, 1972, at the Louisville Baptist Church.  It was at this same church that Kathi has been baptized earlier.

   Kathi is survived by her husband, Tom of 42 years; two children, Jeremy O’Dell and Dustin O’Dell both of Palmetto, FL.; father, Charles (Mary) McPeak of Louisville, IL; sisters, JoAnn (Darrell) Schoonover and Kelly (Darin) Quinn of Louisville, IL; brothers-in-law, Cotton (Carol Jean) O’Dell and Harry O’Dell of Louisville, IL; Larry (Mary) O’Dell of Flora, IL; Sisters-in-law, Betty Willis, Connie Jones (Max McKinney), Mary O’Dell of Louisville, IL and Nancy Palmer of Anderson, IN; as well as many nieces and nephews.

   Kathi was preceded in death by her mother, Shaune (Roberts) Spitzner; nephew, Allen Cosner; father and mother-in-law, Leland and Bessie O’Dell; brothers-in-law, Bill O’Dell and Donnie O’Dell; and sister-in-law, Sue Hale.

   Kathi grew up in Louisville and graduated from North Clay High School in 1972, and lived much of her life in Clay County. From 1993 to 2000, their family lived in Effingham where Jeremy graduated from high school.  In 2000, the family moved to Florida where Kathi soon received the opportunity to manage a beach front condominium unit in Long Boat Key. She was most recently employed as Manager of Bradenton Tropical Palms, a retirement community in Bradenton, FL. Kathi will be remembered for her talent and determination. Any task, hobby, career she chose to take on, she mastered. Most of all, she will be remembered as a loving wife and mother and will be greatly missed by her entire family. 

   A Celebration of Life Service for Kathi Lynn O’Dell will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Bethel Christian Church, 2832 Jaeger Lane, Louisville, IL 62858.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help with medical expenses incurred during Kathi’s year-long battle with cancer.  The donations will be received at the Celebration Service or may be mailed c/o Charles McPeak, 934 Kinmundy Rd, Louisville, IL 62858.  Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, is assisting the family locally.  To share a condolence, visit www.frankandbright.com
