Visitation: 6-8 p.m Friday, July 17, 2015 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home
Interment: Elmwood Cemetery
Larry Gene Tadlock, age 62, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015, at his home, in the loving care of his family.
Larry was born March 27, 1953, in Flora, the son of Buster Burl and Faye (Burgess) Tadlock. He married Denise Dale Plumlee on Dec. 29, 1979, at Faith Lutheran Church in Flora, and they celebrated their 35th anniversary last year.
During his youth, he helped his family on their farm in Wayne County. He attended Eastern Illinois and Sangamon State Universities, and took a job at IMB Bank in Springfield before joining Denise’s father in his Golden Rule Insurance business in Flora. Larry and Denise operated “Great Expectations,” an ice cream shop and bookstore, but Larry ultimately found a career as a car salesman, which was a great fit with his knowledge and interest in automobiles. He is remembered for his beautiful singing voice, and along with being asked to perform at weddings and events over the years, he collaborated with Floyd C. Smith in the group, “The Kids From Flora.” Larry was a member of the Flora Community of Christ Church. He enjoyed gardening and grilling out, was a caring husband, father and grandfather, and with his friendly way of striking up a conversation he was truly not a stranger to anyone.
He is survived by his wife: Denise Tadlock of Flora; a son: Corey (Marsha) Tadlock of Highland Park; a daughter: Caitlin Tadlock of St. Louis, Missouri; a granddaughter: Ellie Tadlock; and 2 sisters: Betty (Larry) Stanley of Flora and Kay (Jerry) Banhart of Des Moines, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister: Marilyn.
A funeral service for Larry Tadlock will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Deanie, Corey, Caitlin, and to the Tadlocks and Plumlees -- Hugs and prayers from Colorado. Thinking of you during this time. Larry was there when I was in my first (minor) auto accident at 17 years old, which happened right in front of Eagleson's Auto Dealership. I hit the car in front of me, immediately jumped out of the car, without putting it in park first. My car started to roll up curb and nearly ran into a new PT Cruiser sitting on their lot. Larry to the rescue! He jumped in my car and put it in park, about .2 second before it bumped into the PT Cruiser, saving the day. He just shook his head and took me inside. I'll never forget that. Prayers to all of you. Love, Becky
