Stanley Rex Armstrong Jr, age 76, of Xenia, Illinois, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2015, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.
Rex was born July 4, 1939 in Wayne County, Illinois, to Stanley Rex Armstrong Sr. and Esther (Felty) Armstrong. He was married to the former Alice Klein for 15 years.
Rex was a self-employed mechanic, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and attended Woodlawn Church. He loved his two little dogs “Lucky” and “Sandy” and enjoyed being around friends and close family. Rex enjoyed working and helping others, and had a special fondness for his good friends, Scott and Shannon Fatheree and their two children. He also looked forward to cookouts at Roger Fatheree’s lake, enjoying the company of friends.
He is survived by two sons: Ronald Armstrong of Kankakee and Scott (Linda) Armstrong of Logansport, IN; along with eleven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son: Gregory Armstrong, and three brothers: Bob, Jim and Donnie.
A funeral service for Rex Armstrong will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with military honors presented at the start of the service. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Xenia, at a later date. Memorial donations may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home. Condolences may be shared online at www.frankandbright.com.

Have known Rex since attending first grade in Xenia with him, was a very nice person, will be missed by many. My sincere condolences to his children and grandchildren, hope you have many good memories of him, he was a good person.
